2004 Cadillac XLR Thermostat Housing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat housing on 2004 Cadillac XLR?
A: Drain the cooling system then removing the air outlet duct for access to change the Thermostat Housing. Remove the heater hose from the Thermostat Housing and then the coolant Radiator Hose, and then remove Thermostat Housing bolts using hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Carefully pull out the Thermostat Housing as well as Thermostat and dispose of the old seal ring. For installation, a new seal ring is to be fitted on the Thermostat and then inserted into the Thermostat Housing. Mount the Thermostat Housing assembly to the engine front cover and sieve the latter with the Thermostat Housing bolts that should be tightened to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Move the Radiator Hose to the Thermostat Housing, and attach it using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) and do the same for the heater hose. Lastly, re-integrate air duct outlet and refill the cooling system.
