2004 Chevrolet Corvette Antenna Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace a bent or broken power antenna mast on 2004 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: To replace a bent or broken power antenna mast one should use the socket from the antenna (mast) service kit to remove the antenna mast nut. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON position and turn the radio ON to lift the power antenna. Take great care to unhook the antenna mast and spring, lifting it upwards by hand if necessary. Before completely removing the antenna mast plastic cable, take note on the orientation of the serrated side so it can coil back upon removal, so remember to take precautions against grease splatter on the vehicle when in the process of removal. After switching off the radio and ignition, switch the ignition back to ACC or ON, and with the radio switched on. Insert the replacement antenna (mast) plastic cable into power antenna housing with serrated side slightly forward and towards the RH side of the vehicle with gentle force until the tip of the cable locks to motor. Instruct an assistant to turn the OFF radio and then align and guide the antenna mast quickly into the housing, while holding the plastic cable. Push the contact spring (flared end up) over the antenna mast, then install and tighten the nut on antenna mast using the socket. Turn the radio ON and OFF to enable the antenna to cycle several times and check the performance many times until the antenna mast is fully extended and again retracted; it usually takes one or two cycles. Finally, turn the ignition OFF.
