2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: Start Brake Master Cylinder replacement work by unplugging the electrical connection from the Brake Fluid Level Sensor. Before working on the master cylinder of a non abs 3.4l impala model remove the mounting bracket. After breaking the vacuum brake connections, install rubber caps over open brake pipe fittings to stop brake fluid from escaping and getting polluted. Cut power to the brake fluid sensor then unfasten the mounting nuts from the master cylinder to withdraw it from the car. Empty all brake fluid out of the master cylinder reservoir tank. Before attaching the vacuum Brake Booster place the master cylinder on a bench and pump brake fluid through it. Then install the master cylinder while mounting its nuts tightly to 25 nm torque. Insert the brake pipes into the master cylinder and tighten brake pipe connections to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). Mount the bracket to the master cylinder if needed and restore electric connection to the brake fluid sensor before finishing brake system bleeding.
