2004 Chevrolet SSR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the alternator on 2004 Chevrolet SSR?
A: Start generator replacement by boosting the vehicle and denoting the negative Battery Cable before lowering the vehicle once more. Start by removing the accessory Drive Belt while being prepared to eliminate the engine sight shield if required. First remove the generator electrical connector then slide off the generator cable boot to expose the terminal stud which enables generator cable nut removal from the terminal stud before removing the cable. After disengaging the generator bolts it becomes possible to extract the generator from its position. Position the generator before installing the generator bolts until the torque reaches 50 n.m (37 lb ft). First reconnect the generator cable against the terminal stud before securing the generator cable nut to the terminal stud with 9 n.m (80 lb in) tightening then slide the boot over the terminal stud. Place the generator electrical connector back into place while reinstalling the engine sight shield when needed. Installation concludes with driving belt placement followed by vehicle lifting and negative Battery Cable reconnection before vehicle lowering.
