• Q: How to replace the door check link on 2004 Chevrolet SSR?

  A: The first step to replace the door check requires detaching both the side front door trim panel and front water deflector. First disconnect the fastener that holds the door check to the pillar before disassembling the rubber dust boot from the check in order to gain access to the door retaining fasteners. Upon removal of retaining fasteners from the door area you can take out the door check assembly through its dedicated access hole. You must insert the door check assembly through the door access hole while positioning the arrow toward the front direction. After installing the fasteners on the door check with 15 N.m (11 lb ft) torque settings you must add the door check rubber dust boot. Reinstall the door check retaining fastener on the pillar while torqueing it to a value of 15 N.m (11 lb ft). Squeeze the front water deflector away from the panel to complete the side front door trim installation.
