  Q: How to replace the door check link on Chevrolet SSR?

  A: The first step to replace a door check involves removing the side front door trim panel with the front water deflector. First use a tool to remove the fastener which connects the door check to the pillar before pulling out the rubber dust boot from around the check for access to the door retaining fasteners. Pull out the door check assembly through the door access hole after you remove its retaining fasteners from the door. The installation procedure begins when you push the door check assembly from the door access hole with its position arrow facing forward. Secure the door check retaining fasteners to the door while torquing them to 15 N.m (11 lb ft). Thread the rubber dust boot over the door check and secure its retaining fastener to 15 N.m (11 lb ft). Reinstall the side front door trim panel after you pull back the front water deflector.
