How to replace the hood latch on 2004 Chevrolet SSR?

Begin by opening the hood before using a grease pencil or suitable marking device to note down the latch position on the mounting bracket. Start by removing the engine splash shield along with the mounting bracket bolts which secure the latch to its position. Disconnect the Hood Latch cable and take out the latch from the car. When installing this Hood Latch you need to link the Hood Latch cable to its component and set up the assembly in the marked position of the mounting bracket. Secure the latch using bolts which should be tightened to 10 n.m (89 lb ft). Inspect the latch functioning before hood closure and adjust the alignment with the hood striker while inspecting the latch operation. Reinstall the engine splash shield as the last step.
