2005 Buick LeSabre Coil Springs Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the front coil springs and shock absorber on 2005 Buick LeSabre?
A: The first step to address suspension strut repairs and servicing starts with removing the strut from a vehicle. Step into the strut spring compressor (J 45400) then place the strut inside. It's important to compress the spring before the strut exhibits unrestricted movement. Use the forcing screw in the spring compressor to compress the coil spring until complete compression. The installation process requires a 45 torx® socket combined with the strut rod nut socket (J 42991) to uninstall the upper strut mount nut. The strut spring compressor (J 45400) requires removal of the strut before freeing the upper strut mount and coil spring with the compressor forcing screw. Follow these steps while using the strut spring compressor (J 45400) to first reinsert the coil spring together with the upper strut mount. Reextend the coil spring with the forcing screw. Attach the strut to the coil spring and upper strut mount and begin adding the strut retaining nut while keeping it loose. Follow these steps to install the upper strut mount nut while holding the strut shaft with a 45 torx® socket and using the strut rod nut socket (J 42991): tighten the nut to 85 nm (63 ft. Lbs.). Release your strut from the strut spring compressor (J 45400) before reinstalling it into the vehicle.
