2005 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Knock Sensor (KS) 2 on 2005 Buick LeSabre?
A: To remove the Knock Sensor (KS) 2, turn off the Ignition Switch and ensure the vehicle is raised and to follow relevant lifting precautions. Unbolt splash shield and drain the cooling system being careful of hot engine which can give you a burn. The reason is that there will still remain some coolant in the engine water jacket which will go down with knocking sensor removal. Secondly, unbolt the two screws at the Knock Sensor heat shield under the freeze plug or block heater if installed and disconnect the electric connector from the Knock Sensor. Take out the Knock Sensor from the engine block. For an installation, insert the new Knock Sensor into the engine block without using a thread sealant, as the factory coating of the Knock Sensor will be adequate in terms of detonation detection; if you want, you can tighten the Knock Sensor to 19 n.m (14 lb ft). Replace the Knock Sensor heat shield and loosely tighten the bolts to approximately 60 n.m 44 lb ft) then reconnect the electrical connector to the Knock Sensor and install the splash shield. Drain the vehicle, lower it, and fill the cooling system along with checking the coolant level.
