2005 Buick LeSabre Wheel Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front wheel bearing and hub on 2005 Buick LeSabre?
A: After lifting the vehicle and securing it in place start by taking off the tire and wheel before working on the Wheel Bearing and hub. Clean the drive axle threads from dirt and put a drift punch or screwdriver into the caliper and rotor gap so the rotor cannot rotate. Separate the brake rotor from its position and remove the drive axle nut. Disconnect the abs front wheel speed sensor connector from the dust shield by removing its electrical connection. Keep hub and bearing assembly parts together during removal by noting they can only be replaced together. Take out the Wheel Bearing and hub assembly at the Steering Knuckle connection points as well as from the dust shield. The j 28733-b tool (J 28733-B Front Hub Spindle Remover) lets you remove the hub and bearing from the drive axle assembly. Remove rust and dust from all surfaces of the knuckle where the bearing will seat to secure correct placement of the bearing. At first remove the plastic cover while staying away from both the knuckle and hub assembly when handling the abs sensor wire. Handle the dust shield precariously during installation to maintain both bearing outboard lip seal and hub and bearing bolt safety. Place small amounts of grease inside the Steering Knuckle bore before assembling the Wheel Bearing and dust shield unit to the bolted-on knuckle. Apply the supplied bolts to the Wheel Bearing mounting points and tighten them to 95 nm (70 ft. Lbs.). Secure the new drive axle nut that draws the Wheel Bearing/hub onto the axel to place the abs front wheel speed sensor connector over the dust shield. Use a torque wrench to tighten the drive axle nut to 160 nm (118 ft.-lb) strength after you install the brake rotor and stop the rotor from turning by pushing a drift punch or screwdriver into its space. Place the tire and wheel on the vehicle while lowering it to its normal position.
