2005 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2005 Buick LeSabre?
A: Before working on the brake hose you must safely lift your vehicle and detach the tire and wheel. Use a clean tool to clear all materials from brake hose and pipe fittings before placing a rubber cap to seal the brake pipe end. Twist the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose and put an end plug on it for protection. Separate the brake hose from the bracket by using a flat blade tool, then pull out the brake hose from its bracket and unfasten the brake hose from the caliper while keeping the brake caliper steady. Remove the two copper brake hose gaskets since they resist detachment from the caliper or hose end. Also install a rubber plug into the brake hose to caliper bolt hole. You need to discard the rubber plug before putting on new copper brake hose gaskets when installing the brake hose system. Push the brake hose onto the caliper bolt before tightening it to 44 n.m (32 ft lb). Also make sure the hose remains straight during installation. Connect the brake hose to its bracket and retainer. To join the brake pipe fitting with the brake hose remove the rubber cap from the fitting end and tighten it to 11 lb ft or 15 n.m. Complete the hydraulic brake system bleed then put on the wheel and tires before lowering the vehicle.
