- Q: How to replace the RH engine mount and engine mount bracket on 2005 Buick Rainier?A: The replacement process of right engine mount and bracket begins with disconnecting the negative cable from the battery followed by cooling fan removal. The next procedure involves removing both the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor electrical connector along with its retainer and then unplugging the MAP Sensor itself. The right shock module must be removed when working on frame engine mount replacement. Climb beneath the vehicle after removing the upper engine mount nuts from both sides then lift the car before extracting the lower engine mount nuts from right and left positions. The first step includes removing the engine protection shield followed by lowering the vehicle to position a floor jack under the Oil Pan with a block of wood until the oil level sender keeps safe from any damage. Clear the engine mount studs with just enough space to pull away the right engine mount from its bracket while making note of how the heat shield should be placed for final assembly. The right engine mount bracket requires removal of its bolts before extracting the bracket. The bracket and bracket bolts of the right frame engine mount should be removed only if required. During installation replace the right frame engine mount bracket only if it got removed by tightening bolts to 110 nm (81 ft. Lbs.). Afterward install the right engine mount bracket and use bolts to secure it while tightening these bolts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) followed by installation of the right engine mount. Position the heat shield correctly above the right side anti-rotation feature while lowering the engine onto the mounts. Complete installation of upper engine mount nuts on the right and left sides by torqueing them to 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.). Elevate the vehicle using a floor jack and remove it. After mounting the engine protection shield users need to fasten its bolts and tighten the right and left lower engine mount nuts to 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the right shock module followed by the MAP Sensor and MAP Sensor retainer with the electrical connector. The cooling fan hub nut needs to be attached to the water pump shaft before reinstalling the cooling fan together with reattaching the battery negative cable.
