    A: A proper replacement of the lower intermediate Steering Shaft requires that the front wheels remain straight and the Steering Column must be in lock position to prevent coil assembly damage and misalignment. Then turn your ignition lock to lock before taking out the key. Insert the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) through the lower Steering Column trim cover access hole as a means to lock the Steering Column. Raise and support the vehicle. Take note of the correct fitment between the center intermediate shaft and lower intermediate shaft during assembly. Both the lower intermediate Steering Shaft to power steering gear bolt and the center intermediate Steering Shaft to lower intermediate Steering Shaft bolt need removal. The installation requires removal of the lower intermediate Steering Shaft from its connection points between power steering gear and center intermediate Steering Shaft. Integrate the lower intermediate Steering Shaft to the center intermediate Steering Shaft and power steering gear one after the other. Secure the lower intermediate Steering Shaft to power steering gear bolt requiring 50 nm torque (37 ft. Lbs.) then complete the installation with center intermediate Steering Shaft to lower intermediate Steering Shaft bolt at 30 nm (23 ft. Lbs.). To complete the replacement the vehicle needs to be lowered while you remove the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) from the Steering Column lower trim cover access hole.
