The first step to replace the Rack And Pinion inner Tie Rod includes removing the Rack and Pinion Boot. A pipe wrench should be applied to the rack from its position near the inner Tie Rod housing but only at the valve end of the steering gear to prevent damage. After setting a wrench on the flats of the inner Tie Rod housing you need to turn it counterclockwise while applying steady pressure to the rack until the inner Tie Rod detaches from the rack. The installation of the inner Tie Rod starts with mounting it onto the rack before applying another pipe wrench to the rack section which houses the inner Tie Rod to avoid damage. The j 34028 torque wrench needs to be applied to the flats of the inner Tie Rod housing while tightening it to 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.). You must install the Rack and Pinion Boot in the final step.
