2005 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the TPMS Sensor on 2005 Cadillac CTS?
A: To replace the Tire Pressure Sensor, first lift the vehicle by a proper support, and remove the tire/wheel. Prior to the removal of the tire from the wheel, place the cap and valve of the sensor on to a clean place and ensure that it is aluminum for the cap and nickel plated for the valve in order to avoid corrosion. When separating the tire bead from the wheel, while positioning the bead breaking fixture 90 degrees from the valve stem and mounting/dismounting head on the other hand should be oriented in such a way that the tire iron or pry bar can be positioned slightly clockwise of the sensor body. Inside the tire/ wheel assembly use tire machine to turn it clockwise in reversing the tire bead make it change to the outside of the wheel rim and vice versa and then use tire machine to take out the tire from the wheel. Any residual liquid sealant is removed from the surfaces of the tire and wheel. Then pull out the tire pressure sensor nut and the sensor. For installation, clean any dirt preventing the contact between the sealing of the grommet and the sensor are then place the sensor to the wheel hole such that the air passage is directed away from the wheel, then install the sensor nut and fix it in a position that the sensor body lies parallel to the inner wall's of the wheel and tighten the sensor body to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.). Prior to reinstalling the tire, position the mounting/dismounting head 180 degrees from the valve stem and the bead transitions 45 degrees clockwise to the valve stem and then rotating the tire/wheel assembly clockwise to move the tire bead to the inside of the wheel rim and repeating for the second bead. After installing the tire on the wheel, observe that a service replacement tire pressure sensor arrives in OFF mode, which means that the unique identification code of the sensor will not be learned into the memory of the antenna module; Therefore, the mentioned sensor must be put out of OFF mode by spinning the tire/wheel assembly at the rate of more than 32 km/h (20 mph) for at least 10 seconds. Lastly, put the tire/vehicle assembly on the vehicle, lower the vehicle, and learn the tire pressure sensors.
