• Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in a standard cooling system on 2005 Cadillac SRX?

  A: For replacement of the condenser in a standard cooling system, before you operate the system, leak test using Halogen Leak Detector ( J 39400-A ) the fittings after installation. First, remove the refrigerator and, afterwards, lift and support the vehicle. Don't forget to call off the front air deflector retainers and the front air deflector as well as the lower air baffle push pin retainers. Next, remove the condenser upper bracket bolts and lower mounting bolts then remove the discharge line bolt and disconnect discharge line from condenser, discard O-ring. Make sure that you remove the conden sib tube bolt and remove the tube while discarding the O-ring. Carefully unbolt and pull off the power steering cooler line to condenser retaining bolts; pull out the condenser. When replacing a new condenser, the recommended amount of PAG oil should be poured directly into it before installation. Mount the power steering cooler line to condenser retaining bolts and tighten it to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Apply a new O-ring to the condenser tube and link it with the condenser then fasten with the condenser tube bolt also tight it at 9 N.m (80 lb in). Mount a new O-ring onto discharge line and join to the condenser and bolt the discharge line on 9 N.m (80 lb in). After that, install the condenser lower mounting bolts and tighten it to 5.4 N.m (48 lb in) like the condenser upper bracket bolts tightening them to 5.4 N.m (48 lb in). Replace the lower air baffle push pin retainers, the front air deflector, and the front air retainer. Lower down the vehicle, install the power steering cooler mounting bolts, then evacuate and charge the A/C system.
