- Q: How to replace the emblem/nameplate on the liftgate on 2005 Cadillac SRX?A: Start by obtaining the required tools of Heat Gun (J 25070). Use tape first to shield and position the emblem/nameplate before you start. Turn on the Heat Gun Model J 25070 and set it to 152 mm (6 in). Heat the emblem/nameplate with the mixer tool for 30 seconds. Take off the emblem/nameplate using a small plastic flat-bladed tool to prevent damage to the paint. Use a 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive disk P/N 07502 with body panels and Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha mixture of water and isopropyl alcohol with a lint-free cloth to remove the adhesive from plastic components. Measure 130 mm (5.12 inches) from the horizontal ledge and 80 mm (3.12 inches) from the vertical edge of the liftgate on our vehicles. Also extend from the bottom edge of the 'SRX' emblem by 12 mm (0.5 inches) for export models in clean and dry installation areas with proper marked test zones. Heating the installation surface to 27-41°C (80-105°F) using the Heat Gun (J 25070) is needed. Adjust the temperature until the emblem/nameplate stays between 29-32°C (85-90°F). Remove the backing liner without handling the adhesive side and place the emblem/nameplate on labeled spots while firmly pressing it down until it sticks. Use flat pressure evenly over the surface while confirming proper stickiness then smooth out the tape edges before taking off the mounting surface.
