How to replace the rear door check link on 2005 Cadillac SRX?

The first step to replace the rear door check begins with removing the door trim panel. The forward half of the water deflector needs to be pulled away from the door panel to reveal access to the check. The door check and the hinge pillar bolts should first be removed followed by the check to door nuts before extracting the check from the door. Follow the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions when placing the check into the door for installation. After fastening the check to door nuts by tightening them until they reach 9 N.m (80 lb in) torque the check arm can be installed to the center pillar bolt and secured with the same torque setting. Put back the water deflector and door trim panel as the last step.
