• Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2005 Cadillac SRX?

  A: Here are the steps to substitute the upper Intake Manifold: first of all, turn the ignition off and remove the fuel injector sight shield, air inlet duct, brake booster vacuum hose from the Intake Manifold. Remove purge solenoid valve electrical connector and the purge line from the valve and remove the wiring harness retainer and disconnect the Throttle Body electrical connector. Then, take off the upper Intake Manifold brace bolts (1 and 2) and the brace; this is followed by a removal of the pcv hose from the right bank-camshaft cover, the barometric pressure sensor electrical connector, and the intake-main runner control solenoid electrical connector. After that, remove the injector harness bracket bolt and left bank ignition coil wiring hook up, then unplug the upper Intake Manifold bolts, during which one should remember, that the penetration of the cowl panel will be needed to pull the right rear bolt. Take off the upper Intake Manifold with the Throttle Body, and in the process of changing the upper Intake Manifold, take it apart and clean and check it. For installation, and if necessary, assemble the Intake Manifold, replace with new upper Intake Manifold gasket and then the upper Intake Manifold. Screw down the intake manifolds using the long bolts in a pattern starting from the center of the bolts to the outer bolts of 23nm (17 ft. Lbs.). In addition to that, connect the electrical connector of the barometric pressure sensor and connect the Intake Manifold runner control solenoid electrical connector as well as the pcv hose up to the right bank camshaft cover. Mount the upper Intake Manifold brace bolts with bolt tightening to 65 nm (48 ft. Lbs.) and bolt to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Make the correct feeding of the wiring harness connector to Throttle Body, install wiring harness retainer, and attach purge line and purge solenoid valve electrical connector. Lastly, attach the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose back to the Intake Manifold, attach the air inlet duct, and reinstall the fuel injector sight shield.
