2005 Chevrolet Blazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front air bag sensor on 2005 Chevrolet Blazer?
A: To replace the inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor, disable the SIR system first. Do not hit or shock the sensor, and make sure to firmly attach it before turning on the power to protect against SIR deployment, and personal injury. With the OPC off-road equipment, remove the off-road skid plate, detach the connector position assurance (CPA) first from the sensor harness connector and then the harness connector from the sensor. Find your drilling drill, get ready the mounting rivets, and pull out the mounting rivets. Then remove the sensor from the vehicle. In case the sensor mounting holes or fasteners are ruined, readjust and replace the wrongly installed rivet by removing and disposing of it, then reattach the sensor with a new rivet. If a second fastening repair is required remove untightened rivet, enlarge the mounting holes of die lower radiator support to 9.0 mm (0.35 in), insert and properly seat the rivnut, and fasten the sensor with the screw, tightening fasteners to 8.0 N.m (71 lb in). To install, clean the mounting surface and install the sensor horizontally to the lower radiator support directing the arrow toward the front of the vehicle. Attach the inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor mounting rivets (GM P/N 15715058) and re-establish the harness connector and install the CPA. If available, reinstall the off-road skid plate, and lastly, activate your SIR system.
