2005 Chevrolet Cavalier Automatic Transmission Filter Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Automatic Transmission Filter on 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: Service and repair of the automatic transmission fluid filter requires removing the transaxle oil pan followed by the Oil Filter through use of a long screwdriver to break the filter neck seal free. The j 6125-1b (Slide Hammer Adapter) and the j 23129 (Universal Seal Remover) can be used to remove the seal if damage or wear is detected during inspection of the Oil Filter seal. The next step requires installation of a new seal after applying a tiny amount of petroleum jelly to the seal surface. Then add a new filter into the case. Installing the transaxle oil pan becomes the last step to complete the procedure.
