2005 Chevrolet Corvette Steering Wheel Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the steering wheel on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The first step to replace the Steering Wheel requires technicians to remove both the Steering Wheel inflator module and the horn electrical connector. The setup should begin by installing steer column lock pin (J 42640) to the steering column followed by taking away Steering Wheel set nut which needs disposal afterward. Use Steering Wheel puller legs (J 36541-A) along with Steering Wheel puller (J 1859-A) to clamp onto the Steering Wheel until the steering column shaft and the puller center screw are tight enough to let the Steering Wheel detach. Follow up by taking the puller tools off the Steering Wheel. When installing the new Steering Wheel secure it against the steering column while watching for alignment marks before tightening the set nut to 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Complete the procedure by removing the steering column lock pin (J 42640) then reinstall the horn electrical connector and Steering Wheel inflator module.
