2005 Chevrolet Express 2500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the drive belt on 2005 Chevrolet Express 2500?
A: Start by taking off the air cleaner assembly plus the retaining bolt from the coolant recovery reservoir before putting it aside. A 3/8 inch drive wrench should be used for the Drive Belt tensioner arm and its rotation in a counterclockwise direction will remove the Drive Belt while a gradual tension release follows. After placing the Drive Belt over all pulleys except the Drive Belt tensioner arm the correct installation route needs to be followed for both vehicles with air conditioning and without it. To mount the Drive Belt on the Drive Belt tensioner pulley start by counterclockwise rotation of the tensioner arm through use of the 3/8 inch drive wrench followed by gradual tension release. Make sure the belt runs through its correct path and check that all pulleys have proper belt installation with each groove placed correctly. To confirm proper Drive Belt size and routing use both the fixation pointer alignment on the Drive Belt tensioner indentation for a new belt and make sure the fix pointer does not reach the index mark for a used belt. Position the coolant recovery reservoir before installing its retaining bolt while tightening it to 11 nm (97 inch lbs.). Then reinstall the air cleaner assembly.
