2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake pads on 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: Before starting work on the rear brake pads, check if the brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir is between the maximum and minimum limits because you can leave it as is when it matches that mark range but you need to drain the excess fluid if the brake fluid level sits above it. Lift the vehicle and take out the wheel from its position. A large c-clamp pressed onto the brake caliper top and tightened toward the rotor pushes the piston back, enabling the brake caliper to slide off without the c-clamp. Lower the rear brake caliper after unscrewing its upper mounting bolt. Pull out the brake pads from their holding bracket along with the clips and wipe cleaning fluid from the hang surface. Use cleaned non-lubricated air to dry the brake caliper mounting bracket after preparing it with denatured alcohol. When you receive new brake pads never reutilize the old Brake Pad retaining clips during setup. Install new Brake Pad retaining clips onto the brake caliper mounting bracket first followed by installing the brake pads. Put the Brake Pad retaining clip into the brake caliper correctly and lift the rear brake caliper up into its proper position. Place the upper caliper bolt and bolt it to 23 ft. Lbs. Torque before putting back the tire assembly wheel and lowering the vehicle. Also refill the master cylinder reservoir if necessary. To build a stable Brake Pad connection and make the new pads ready for use gently push the Brake Pedal down.
