How to replace the rear parking brake cable on 2005 Chevrolet Venture?

The first step before installing a new rear Parking Brake Cable includes both raising and adequate support of the vehicle. Start by raising the vehicle and supporting it properly before removing the wheel along with the tire. Continue by tensioning the park brake cable at the equalizer. The right rear cable gets disconnected from its clip while the left rear cable needs a complete removal of the equalizer nut from its equalizer stud. The first step includes Brake Drum removal from the rear followed by disconnection of the park brake cable from its mounted lever. The Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043) helps to disconnect the rear park brake cable at the backing plate before removing it from your vehicle. Placing the rear park brake cable into the backing plate enables users to connect it to the park brake lever before adding the front cable. The right rear cable installation requires attaching the cable to the clip while the left rear cable needs installation of the equalizer stud to the equalizer nut component on the equalizer assembly.
