  A: The vehicle needs to be raised before starting the replacement process on the speed sensor. Detach the electrical connector from the speed sensor before you extract the speed sensor / vent hose bolt that secures the Transfer Case. The pinion housing vent hose along with its mounting bracket should be moved out of the way from the speed sensor bolt region before removing the sensor itself. Keep the o-ring that comes with the speed sensor unless removal is needed; damaged o-rings cannot be reused. You need to place the o-ring onto the speed sensor during installation only when it was taken off before putting the speed sensor onto the Transfer Case. First position the pinion housing vent hose together with its mounting bracket to the speed sensor bolt boss. Then fasten the speed sensor bolt to the Transfer Case using a torque of 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). After finishing with all steps, lower the vehicle while connecting the electrical connector to the speed sensor.
