2005 GMC Canyon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor for the intake on 2005 GMC Canyon?
A: Replacement of the intake camshaft position (CMP) sensor starts with disconnecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the intake cmp sensor followed by the removal of the retaining bolt which allows extraction of the sensor from the Cylinder Head. Discard the o-ring seal at this time. Before returning the intake cmp sensor into the Cylinder Head you should install a new o-ring seal which requires light oil lubrication. Treat the cmp sensor bolt threads with gm p/n 12346004 sealer (Canadian P/N 10953480) before installing the bolt and torquing it to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Last step involves attaching the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the intake cmp sensor.
