2006 Buick Rendezvous Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake pads on 2006 Buick Rendezvous?
A: Begin Brake Pad replacement by looking at the brake master cylinder fluid level and draining fluid until the level matches the middle of the available space. Put the vehicle in a safe position to lift it and take off its tire and wheel. Twist two wheel nuts tightly before placing a c-clamp between the top of the brake caliper and back of the outboard pad. Continue tightening the clamp until the Brake Caliper Piston moves into the bore and circumvents the rotor. Move the c-clamp away before you extract the lower bolt from the brake caliper and swing it upward to expose the brake pads. Take out the brake pads from their slots in the bracket and detach them from the caliper. Put wood or the previous Brake Pad between the c-clamp and Brake Caliper Piston to protect both items. Then press the piston fully into the bore using a c-clamp. Check Brake Caliper Bolt boots and dust boot for damage before installation by using new parts when needed. Replace damaged or corroded brake caliper bolts and use new parts if needed. Wipe the outside part of the caliper boot with denatured alcohol before fitting new brake pads and push the brake piston into the bore through a protective barrier using a c-clamp. Fit the four Brake Pad retainers on the caliper bracket with the wear sensor at the front inner pad location. Install thread-locker gm product 12345493 (Canadian product 10953488) on brake caliper pin bolts and bolt them into lower position over pads. Then tighten lower caliper bolt to 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.). Take out the wheel nuts from the rotor and put on the tire and wheel before lifting the vehicle. Press the brake pedal 3/4 of its capacity until you sense solid resistance then bring the master cylinder up to correct fluid height while gleaming pad and rotor surfaces.
