2007 Buick Rendezvous Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear disc brake pads on 2007 Buick Rendezvous?
A: To replace the rear disc brake pads, it going is first inspect the amount of fluid on the brake master cylinder reservoir; read the level, then if the level is above halfway between the maximum-full and the minimum allowable level, pump some brake fluid out to a halfway mark. Lift and support the car, then remove the tire and rim combination. Hand tighten two wheel lug nuts to retain the rotor to hub and lock the rear caliper Piston in place using a c clamp on top of caliper over the top of the caliper housing against the back of the outboard pad, tighten until Piston is pushed into caliper bore just enough to slide the caliper off the rotor. Remove the c-clamp and the upper caliper bolt carefully without breaking the pin boot by rotating the caliper to the down which will allow the access to the pads (9,10) and remove from the caliper bracket which also includes the removal of the two retainer slides . Check the disc brake mounting and hardware as well as caliper dust boot for any damage and replace any damaged parts. Check the caliper bolts for corrosion or damage, and use new caliper bolts if found to have corrosion. For installation, use a c-clamp to bottom out the Piston into the caliper bore using an old Brake Pad or wooden block across the face of the Piston never damaging the Piston or caliper boot. Replace the two retainer slides to the caliper bracket and replace the pads (9,10) to the caliper bracket carefully so that you wouldn't damage the pin boot when rotating the caliper. Mount the pedal over the rotor, and turn the caliper down so that the brake pads are sandwiching the rotor. Put anti-seize on the bolt and bolt boot and install the upper caliper bolt making sure it is torqued to 45 n.m (33 lb ft). Take off the two wheel lug nuts that hold rotor to hub, putting on the tire and wheel assembly, and bringing up the vehicle. With the engine off depress the Brake Pedal until about 2/3 of a travel distance and slowly release. Wait 15 seconds and continue this process until it can achieve a firm Brake Pedal to properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads. Last, top up the brake master cylinder reservoir to an appropriate level and burnish the pads and rotors.
