Buick Rendezvous Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front disc brake pads on Buick Rendezvous?
A: Check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level before work. If the fluid sits above its half mark you need to reduce it to equal the midpoint. Base the vehicle safely and take out the wheel and tire for replacement. First secure both wheel nuts on the rotor before placing a c-clamp above the brake caliper backside over the inboard Brake Pad. Apply pressure until the Brake Caliper Piston moves entirely into the bore and the caliper can be removed from the rotor. Lower the caliper by removing its lower bolt then rotate the caliper away from the brake pads. Put wood or the used pad between c-clamp and piston when you remove brake pads and retainers from the bracket to shield brake parts from damage. Squeeze the piston into the bore using a c-clamp and take the clamp off. Check the condition of Brake Caliper Bolt boots and the Brake Caliper Piston dust boot for cracks, tears, leaking material, and wear. Replace the components if they show signs of damage. Replace brake caliper bolts if they show metal damage or rust. After cleaning the boot surface with denatured alcohol you can insert a c-clamp to push the piston into the caliper bore while placing a protective material between the c-clamp and piston components. Place the four Brake Pad retainers onto the caliper bracket so the wear sensor sits on the leading edge of inner pad. Fit brake pads on retainers first and place them on the caliper bracket. Then clean and thread threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) onto the brake caliper pin bolts before lowering the caliper onto the pads. Secure the bottom caliper bolt by applying 35 n.m of torque. Take off the wheel nuts from the two rotor studs then add the tire and wheel. Lower the car and push the brake pedal fully 3/4 way while making sure pressure is firm. Add brake fluid until the tank meets its designated mark while also smoothing Brake Pad edges and rotor surface.
