- Q: How to replace the rear brake calipers on 2007 Buick Rendezvous?A: Check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid before starting. Drain fluid when the level exceeds halfway between marked limits. Firmly lift your vehicle and take off the tire while handling the wheel. Fasten two nuts onto the rotor hub then apply a large c-clamp on top of the brake caliper and squeeze padriend caliper bore toward the center of the caliper until it comes off the rotor. Pull out the brake hose bolt and brake hose from the brake caliper while removing the two copper brake hose gaskets stuck to the parts. Close the brake caliper and hose ports to keep the fluid inside the system safe from outside materials when cleaning the brake hose area. Take off the brake caliper (2) after removing its bolts (1 and 3). Check the caliper bracket bolt boot for damage including cuts and tears then replace it when needed. Attach the brake caliper onto its bracket as you install the caliper bolt bushings and boots correctly. Apply lubricant on the caliper bolt shaft but keep it away from the threaded section and also apply lubricant to the boots located inside the bracket. Put the brake caliper bolts in place and tighten them to 45 n.m (33 lb ft) before placing the Brake Caliper Bracket boot over the caliper bolt shoulder by using a flat-bladed tool. Fit the brake hose bolt with the new copper brake hose gaskets onto the brake hose and install the bolt onto the brake caliper. Locate and separate rotor nuts from the hub assembly before reattaching the tire and wheel then lower the vehicle and refill the master cylinder to proper specification. After bleeding the brake system you need to push the brake pedal with 778 n.m (175 lb ft) force for 10 seconds to check for leaks in the brake caliper and hydraulic brake system.
