2006 Chevrolet Colorado Emblem Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the door emblem/nameplate (XTREME) on 2006 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: Use a Heat Gun (J 25070) to remove the door emblem/nameplate (XTREME). Prepare with 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501). Start by placing tape to secure the door emblem for protection and positioning. Heat the emblem/nameplate at 152 mm distance with the Heat Gun J 25070 in circular motion for 30 seconds. Use a plastic flat blade to take out the door emblem and clean its surface and backplate with 3M adhesive remover. Wipe the door surface with varnish makers and painters naptha. Measure and apply tape following these specifications: set the front of the door at 145.0 mm (5.70 in) from the emblem/nameplate and bottom of the door at 165.0 mm (6.50 in) to the front with 28.0 mm (1.11 in) from the feature line to the emblem/nameplate when the location is unmarked. Start heating the door surface with the Heat Gun (J 25070) until it reaches 21°C (70°F) but avoid placing the emblem/nameplate tape directly on the heated surface. Press the uncovered front part of the emblem onto the door panel until the backing fully sticks to its surface. Press and roll the emblem/nameplate to guarantee it sticks well and then test the bond strength. Completing the installation by taking off the tape from around the door emblem.
