2006 Chevrolet Colorado Emblem Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the emblem/nameplate on the pickup box on 2006 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: The tools needed to change the pickup box (Colorado) Emblem/nameplate include the following list: heat gun model j 25070 and 3m(TM) scotchbrite molding adhesive remover disk 3m(TM) p/n 07501. You need a heat gun (J 25070) with the 3m(TM) scotchbrite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) p/n 07501) for this work. Apply protective tape first to your decal then use it for alignment purposes. Use the heat gun (J 25070) from a 152 mm (6 in) distance to heat the decal with circular movements for 30 seconds. A plastic flat-blade tool should carefully pull the decal off the painted surface while you use either the 3m(TM) scotchbrite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) p/n 07501) or an equivalent product to remove all traces of adhesive residue. The painted surface needs to be cleaned with varnish makers and painters (VMP) naptha before you remove the tail lamp. To find the correct placement for an unmarked decal use tape to measure the distance at 207.1 mm starting at the pickup box top edge then at 71.8 mm from the back edge to the tail lamp sheet metal. Apply heat gun (J 25070) to heat the door surface until it reaches at least 21°c (70°F) but avoid touching the decal backing material. You must first remove the backing from the front end then carefully press the decal against the painted surface while still removing the backing until you complete hand rolling to guarantee correct adhesion. Last, reinstall the tail lamp after inspecting the decal's bond and removing tape around it.
