  A: The replacement process for Shift Cable starts by putting the vehicle in park position and raising and supporting the car. Pulling force should never be applied to the cable boot. You should free the Shift Cable from its attachment to the transmission lever ball stud with a flat bladed tool that pushes away from the lever in between the end of the cable and the lever. First slide out the retainer from the Shift Cable while pushing down the locking tabs to free from its bracket. Lift the floor panel while pushing the cable grommet upward through its opening.
