2006 Chevrolet Corvette Radiator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator on 2006 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The Radiator replacement process starts with recovering the refrigerant from the a/c system and draining the cooling system fluids. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) allows you to remove tension on the Radiator inlet hose clamp at the Radiator before you can disconnect the hose. The Radiator slots can be separated from their tabs by lifting upward on the cooling fan and shroud assembly for removal of the complete assembly. Place the hose clamp of the surge tank inlet on its new position while you disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the Radiator. Carriers with transmission oil coolers need line detachment from the Radiator at their upper segment while engine oil cooler vehicles require lower line removal from the Radiator. Hook up a vehicle support while using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to take tension off the Radiator outlet hose clamp at the Radiator before disconnecting the outlet hose. Vehicles with transmission oil coolers require disconnecting the lower transmission oil cooler line and those with engine oil coolers need the lower engine oil cooler-line disconnection. Take out the Radiator unit from its position in the car. Position the new Radiator into the vehicle starting position and increase the height of the vehicle. Algorithms exist to guide the connection process involving the lower engine oil cooler line and Radiator for vehicles with engine oil coolers and the lower transmission oil cooler line with the Radiator for transmission oil coolers. Secure the Radiator outlet hose connection while tightening its clamp. Lower the vehicle to attach the upper transmission oil cooler line in cars with transmission oil cooling features while connecting the upper engine oil cooler line in vehicles with engine oil cooling capacity. Secure the surge tank inlet hose through proper tensioning of its clamp. Raise the cooling fan and shroud assembly to insert Radiator slots with its tabs before mounting it in place. The Radiator inlet hose receives connection while hose clamp pliers (J 38185) apply appropriate tension to its clamp. The technician will install the condenser followed by filling the cooling system then performing an evacuation with recharging of the a/c system before conducting a halogen leak detector test (J 39400-A) on component fittings and checking the transmission fluid level.
