2005 Chevrolet Corvette Radiator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Merging new Radiator installation requires the a/c system to have its refrigerant recovered while draining the cooling system fluid. Disconnect the Radiator inlet hose through the use of hose clamp pliers (J38185) at the Radiator by releasing tension from the clamp on the hose. The cooling fan and shroud assembly needs to be lifted up to free its tabs from the Radiator slots before the assembly can be removed. The first step involves relocated clamping of the surge tank inlet hose at the Radiator. Afterwards disconnect the surge tank inlet hose and proceed with disconnecting the upper transmission oil cooler line if equipped. Engine oil cooler users must disconnect their upper line leading to the cooler. Extract tension on the Radiator outlet hose clamp at the Radiator using hose clamp pliers (J38185) after lifting the vehicle and creating support. Vehicles equipped with a transmission oil cooler require disconnecting its lower transmission oil cooler line whereas vehicles with an engine oil cooler need lower engine oil cooler line removal before proceeding with Radiator removal from the vehicle. Installation of the new Radiator requires first placing it in position before raising the vehicle to complete the connection of its lower engine oil cooler line for vehicles with engine oil coolers and lower transmission oil cooler line for vehicles with transmission oil coolers. Attach the Radiator outlet hose while tightening its clamp located on the Radiator. When installing the transmission oil cooler line follow this by attaching the upper transmission oil cooler line for vehicles which have this feature or proceed with the upper engine oil cooler line for vehicles which have this configuration. Fit the surge tank inlet hose while tightening its clamp at the Radiator. Raise the cooling fan and shroud assembly to enable the slots on the Radiator that allow the tabs to attach. Reinstall the assembly. Use hose clamp pliers (J38185) to connect the Radiator inlet hose and install tension on the Radiator inlet hose clamp at the Radiator. The technician should install the condenser followed by cooling system filling and a/c system evacuation before recharging it while testing its fittings for leaks using halogen leak detector (J39400-A). Check the transmission fluid level as the last step of the process.
