• Q: How to replace the thermostat on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?

  A: A cooling system drain must happen before you replace the Thermostat. Loosen the outlet hose clamp which connects at the water pump inlet then remove this hose from the water pump's inlet. The inlet bolts of the water pump need to be unscrewed prior to extracting the water pump inlet while carefully documenting the presence of the vital o-ring seal integrated into the Thermostat Housing. Then, remove the Thermostat Housing. New Thermostat Housing requires installation with an o-ring seal located in the correct groove position. Position the water pump inlet with the Thermostat it contains before tightening the bolts to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). Place the outlet hose onto the water pump inlet before setting the outlet hose clamp at the water outlet position. Then fill the cooling system with fluid.
