Front/rear cover alignment - oil pan surface (J 41480) and front and rear cover alignments-crankshat oilseal area (J 41476). The first order of business is to unlatch the crankshaft balancer, and then the Water Pump. Next remove the front cover (501) bolts and then remove the front cover (502) and gasket (567) discarding the old gasket. Install new front cover gasket (503), front cover (502) and bolts (501), tighten finger, need not to overtighten. Mount the j 41480 and wrench the tool-to-engine block to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Adjust the tapered legs of the j 41476 with the front cover machined surfaces of alignment. After installing the crankshaft balancer bolt and tightening it with hand until tight, you will then use the j 41480 and the engine front cover bolts and tighten them onto 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Take out the tools and check the flatness of oil pan surface, comparing the front cover and engine block, and ensure that the cover is flush or not less than 0.5mm (0.02 inch) below flush. If alignment is not to specs, run the cover alignment again or replace the front cover if needed. Check the sealing system of the o-ring seal of the Camshaft Position Sensor (704), put a dose of aboriginal engine oil for it, and put it onto the Camshaft Position Sensor (703). Lastly, install the sensor to the cover, reconnect the Camshaft Position Sensor wire harness (737), and bolts (705, 738) applying a torque of 12 nm (106 inch lbs.), and bolt the Water Pump and crankshaft balancer.
