- Q: How to replace the alternator bracket on 2006 Chevrolet Malibu?A: Before removing the generator bracket, disconnect the negative Battery Cable by rotating the Drive Belt tensioner counterclockwise, and then removing the accessory Drive Belt. Next, detens the generator, then the bolt and tensioner belt. Then pull the tentioner for the Drive Belt off. Move to dismantle the Drive Belt idler pulley bolt and the idler pulley bolt as well as removing the generator bracket bolts and the generator bracket. To install first install the generator bracket and screws of its lock, tighten it up to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) in sequence. Next, take the Drive Belt tensioner, along with its bolt and tighten in to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). After this, you can install the Drive Belt idler pulley and bolt and tighten the latter to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Reinstall generantor, rotate the Drive Belt tensioner contrary clock, and reinsert the accessory Drive Belt and only then reconnect the negative Battery Cable.
