How to Service and Repair Coil Springs on 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

The coil spring service demands you should remove the strut first from your vehicle. Mount your strut piece into the strut spring compressor (J 45400). Make sure the spring remains compressed while the strut shows freewheeling movement. Twist the spring compressor forcing screw clockwise until the spring coil reaches its compressed state. A 45 torx socket will maintain the strut shaft as you take off the upper strut mount using the strut rod nut socket (J 42991). You should take the strut out of the strut spring compressor (J 45400) to free up the upper strut mount and coil spring when you loosen the compressor forcing screw. To mount components place the coil spring and upper strut mount into the strut spring compressor (J 45400) before you turn the spring compressor forcing screw to achieve coilspring compression. Insert the strut onto the coil spring and upper strut mount before tightening the strut retaining nut using a 45 torx socket with strut rod nut socket (J 42991) to a torque setting of 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.). The strut spring compressor (J 45400) must have the strut removed to reinstall it into the vehicle.
