Unplug the VSS electrical connector then separate the VSS unit alongside the O-ring seal. Apply a thin film of Synchro-mesh transmission fluid with GM P/N 12345349 (Canadian P/N 10953465) or equivalent to a NEW O-ring seal before installation. Place the VSS alongside its O-ring seal into position while maintaining a torque of 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.) on the VSS. Lower the vehicle while reinstalling the VSS electrical connector as the final step.
