2007 Buick LaCrosse Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the lower ball joint on 2007 Buick LaCrosse?
A: Start working on the lower Ball Joint by lifting and stabilizing your vehicle followed by taking off its tire and wheel. Start by making a pilot hole through all rivets before proceeding to drill the rest. Hammer and chisel the last rivet heads off the surface. Begin by taking the cotter pin off the ball stud before turning the ball stud nut anticlockwise. Secure the Ball Joint/stud separator (J 41820) tool over the ball stud as it connects to the lower Control Arm. Turn the ball stud nut to the left side to push the ball stud away from the Steering Knuckle. Take out the lower Control Arm ball stud after suitable preparation of the Ball Joint/stud separator (J 41820). Place the new ball stud onto the lower Control Arm and connect ball stud bolts underneath facing down. Place the new ball stud nuts first and torque them to 50 pound feet (68 N.m). Insert the ball stud onto its connection with the Steering Knuckle before adding and tightening the ball stud castle nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft) plus 120 degrees additional torque. Complete the repair by adding a fresh cotter pin while bending its ends then reinstalling wheels and tires. After that lower the vehicle and examine wheel alignment.
