2007 Buick Lucerne Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2007 Buick Lucerne?
A: The first step to change the pcm is to read the engine oil and automatic transaxle fluid life percentages using a scan tool. The first step is to make sure the ignition is off while disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. The first steps include removing the intake manifold cover while disconnecting the engine harness electrical connector from the maf/iat sensor and then removing the pcv tube from the air cleaner outlet duct. Start by loosening then removing the air cleaner outlet duct from the Throttle Body before unclipping the lower housing and front tabs of the upper housing to take out the air cleaner upper housing. Before taking the pcm from the air cleaner lower housing disconnect the engine harness electrical connector with lever locks at the pcm and remove the electrical connectors from the pcm. Check to ensure no debris exists inside the air filter/pcm housing assembly and maf/iat sensor inlet screen while also verifying air filter/pcm housing assembly and intake air duct for damage. Replace all necessary components before pcm installation. Put the new pcm inside the lower air cleaner housing before attaching the engine harness electrical connectors while locking their mechanical connectors. Secure the upper air cleaner housing by verifying the alignment of the front tabs with the lower housing and then fasten the lower housing retention clips. Proceed with the air cleaner outlet duct installation until it connects with the Throttle Body while securing the clamp at 4 n.m (35 lb in). Then attach the pcv tube to the air cleaner outlet duct followed by connecting the engine harness electrical connector to the maf/iat sensor. Reinstall the intake manifold cover before reconnecting the negative Battery Cable as well as programming the pcm to update remaining fluid life settings which prevents early fluid change defaults.
