• Q: How to replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) on 2007 Buick Lucerne?

  A: To replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) you need to disconnect the negative Battery Cable and also take the intake manifold cover off. Relieve the bolt holding the icm wiring harness electrical connector, thereafter, pull the connector out of the icm. Remove the rear Spark Plug Wires possibly from the ignition coils, then unravel the front Spark Plug Wires. Remove icm wiring harness ground nut and the ground from stud and remove the icm bracket nuts and the bracket from stud. Lay the i.cm assembly on clean working surface then undo the ign. Coil bolts and the istnaitun coils from the i.cm. For installing, set the icm with the bracket then tighten the bolts used for installation of the ignition coils to 4.5 n.m (40 lb in). Replace the icm bracket on the studs then fasten it with nuts tightened to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Mount the icm wiring harness ground over the stud and tighten using the ground nut to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Attach the rear and front Spark Plug Wires to the ignition coils, then attach the icm wiring harness electrical connector and tighten the securing bolt. Lastly, do the intake manifold cover and open up the negative Battery Cable that you had taken off earlier. For programming information and setup, refer to control module references.
