2007 Cadillac Escalade Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front disc brake pads on the 1500 Series on 2007 Cadillac Escalade?
A: Before replacing front brake pads in the 1500 series, check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid levels. Drain fluid until you reach the midpoint when reservoir fluid tops the acceptable range. Place your car on a jack then take out the tire assembly through its components. Place two large c-clamps over the caliper housing to push the pistons inwards until they are fully sealed against the back of the outboard pad. Loosen the guide pin bolt with hand tools while pliers hold the guide pin to prevent brake caliper contact and occurrence of brake pulsations. Secure the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire to shield the hydraulic brake hose from harm while extracting its lower guide pin bolt. Position and elevate the brake caliper before taking out the brake pads and swipe the Brake Pad shims from the mounting bracket. Note the pad placement for reinstallation. Put new shims in place when installing new brake pads and replace worn shims to their marked locations when reusing the pads. Place the brake pads the same way you took them out and return the caliper to its slot on the mounting bracket. Apply hand power to lock the guide pin bolt at 100 n.m (74 lb ft) torque setting while using an open end wrench to hold the guide pin. Install the tire and wheel set after lowering the vehicle and exercise the brake pedal while the engine remains off. Press the brake gradually to 67% of its range and release it very slowly. Continue adjusting the brake pedal until the brake caliper pistons fully engage their pads. Complete the brake fluid reservoir with clean fluid to correct level before using special tools to compress the brake caliper pistons.
