  A: Check the brake fluid level before handling the 2500 series rear Brake Caliper Bracket. Take out fluid when necessary until the level matches the midpoint between fill and low points. Lift the vehicle and move it out of the way before taking out the tire assembly and wheel. Clamp down a large c-clamp over the caliper top to push the pistons back until they are completely compressed. Lift out the rear brake caliper guide pin bolts without fully removing them. Then detach and remove all Brake Caliper Bracket mounting bolts. Take the entire caliper unit away by supporting it with mechanical wire to protect the hydraulic brake hose from damage. Take out the guide pin bolts from the caliper bracket after removing the caliper from the bracket. Also remove the brake pads with their springs. To install these parts you must first put retaining springs on the caliper bracket then pads next put the caliper onto the bracket. Install the guide pins first to the caliper bracket; afterwards connect the caliper and caliper bracket assembly. First remove the Brake Caliper Bracket bolts and clean their threads with denatured alcohol. Then apply threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) on the threads and install the Brake Caliper Bracket mounting bolts. Torque the bolts to 200 n.m (148 lb ft). Reinstall the tire and wheel speedily before slowing pressing and releasing the brake pedal 66% when the engine is off. Let the brake pedal rest for 15 seconds multiple times until you reach full pedal response to correctly place brake caliper pistons and pads. End the process by pouring clean brake fluid into the master cylinder tank until it reaches the required amount.
