2007 Cadillac Escalade EXT Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake disc on a 1500 Series on 2007 Cadillac Escalade EXT?
A: Check the brake master cylinder fluid before working on the 1500 series vehicle. Drain fluid from the reservoir until it falls to the midway point between its highest and lowest accepted marks. Place the vehicle on stands then shift the park brake off before taking out the wheel and tire set. Use a large c-clamp (J 41013) to squeeze the Brake Caliper Piston until it slips all the way back. Take out the Brake Caliper Bracket holder screws with it. Secure the brake caliper with strong mechanic wire to defend the hydraulic flexible brake hose from harm. Keep the brake caliper assembly and disc position marked to install it later. Press down the park brake button until the adjuster reaches its full position then take off push nuts from the Brake Disc if needed. Hose wheel studs with penetrating oil before placing lug nuts then hit the Brake Disc with a dead blow hammer to free it for removal from the axle flange. Use the wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A) to clean hub flange buildup and the disc resurfacing kit (J 41013) to clean the inside Brake Disc diameter. Position the disc correctly then check the assembled lateral runout measurement for proper brake activity and repair it if the specs are violated. Install the caliper and bracket system back in place while applying gm p/n 12345493 threadlocker to the bolts' threads before tightening these bolts to 165 n.m (122 lb ft). Park brake should be adjusted before you put back the tire and wheel assembly. Then lower the vehicle and apply and release brake pedal until you get a firm step after turning off the engine. Complete the brake fluid reservoir using clean brake fluid when the level needs adjustment.
