- Q: How to replace the alternator (LH2 (AWD)) on 2007 Cadillac SRX?A: You can start the generator replacement (LH2 (AWD)) by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by removing the generator Drive Belt. Begin by first raising your vehicle before removing the upper generator mounting bolts (1, 3). First remove the front air deflector with the front wheels and right side wheelhouse liner. Lowering the stabilizer shaft through disconnection of stabilizer shaft links enables generator removal at the right and left side lower Control Arm. Proceed with the removal through the wheelhouse opening by cutting the wiring harness tie strap before discarding the lower generator mounting bolt and generators safely lifted off its bracket to access bat terminal and connector. Use needle-nose pliers to remove the generator output bat terminal nut which disconnects the battery positive lead. Position the protective boot from the generator output battery terminal and disconnect the wire harness electrical connector. The generator installation process ends with generator removal from the vehicle. Place the generator at its intended spot then connect the battery to the generator while tightening the terminals to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Press the protective boot onto the generator output bat terminal before tethering the wiring harness to the generator followed by generator installation on the engine bracket. Hook up the lower generator mounting bolt first but keep it loose. Let the vehicle drop to its lowest position and drive in the upper generator mounting bolts until they reach 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Put the vehicle back up before you secure a fresh tie strap between the wiring harness and generator. Next insert new stabilizer shaft links for both sides along with right wheelhouse liner pieces and front wheels and front air deflector. First reduce the height of the vehicle before installing the generator Drive Belt and restoring the battery negative cable.
