• Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2007 Cadillac STS?

  A: Start by turning the ignition off then remove the fuel injector sight shield and air inlet duct and Brake Booster Vacuum Hose from the Intake Manifold. Begin the replacement process by first removing the Throttle Body electrical connector and wiring harness retainer while cutting all connections of the purge solenoid valve and electrical connector. Begin by removing the upper Intake Manifold brace stud and its bolt and brace but also proceed to disconnect the pcv hose from the right bank camshaft cover followed by removing the electrical connectors of the barometric pressure sensor and Intake Manifold runner control solenoid. Start by removing the injector harness bracket bolt and left bank ignition coil wiring harness from their bracket position before extracting each upper Intake Manifold bolt where slight cowl panel bending may be required to gain access to the right-hand rear bolt. First remove the upper Intake Manifold with the Throttle Body until the deinstallation step before cleaning and inspecting the Intake Manifold then performing assembly steps beginning with the Throttle Body. Assembly begins with the Intake Manifold followed by installation of a new upper Intake Manifold gasket and then the upper Intake Manifold. Start at the center with the longest bolts then move outward while torquing each one to 23 n.m (17 lb ft). Reattach all electrical cables connecting the barometric pressure sensor to the right bank camshaft cover and the Intake Manifold runner control solenoid as well as the pcv hose. Use the bracket's bolt to apply 65 n.m (48 lb ft) torque while the bracket's stud gets 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque. Check that the wiring harness connector fits properly while visually verifying its secure connection. Connect the electrical connector to the Throttle Body then install the wiring harness retainer before reattaching the purge line and purge solenoid valve electrical connector. Complete the installation by uniting the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose to the Intake Manifold then installing the air inlet duct followed by fuel injector sight shield replacement.
