• Q: How to replace the power steering pump (LY7) on 2007 Cadillac STS?

  A: The Power Steering Pump (LY7) replacement starts with front air deflector and power steering pulley removal followed by placing a drain pan under the vehicle. Take the air cleaner intake duct off first then disconnect both power steering reservoir outlet hose and power steering pressure hose from the Power Steering Pump. You should first remove the power steering bracket to the engine mounting bolts (1, 2, and 3) and extract the Power Steering Pump with bracket from the vehicle and then disassemble the Power Steering Pump bracket from the Power Steering Pump. Start by installing the Power Steering Pump onto the Power Steering Pump bracket followed by repositioning the complete Power Steering Pump with bracket within the vehicle. Caulk the Power Steering Pump bracket to the engine mounting bolts (1, 2, and 3) by tightening them in order up to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Install both power steering pressure hose and power steering reservoir outlet hose to the Power Steering Pump before removing the drain pan beneath the vehicle. After performing system bleeding of the power steering system the installer needs to reinstall the power steering pulley as well as the air cleaner intake duct while reinstalling the front air deflector.
