2007 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the coolant reservoir in a cooling system on 2007 Cadillac XLR?
A: To replace the Coolant Reservoir, first drain the cooling system and allow the engine to cool to prevent burns from hot fluid and steam. Use the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to relieve tension on the Coolant Reservoir inlet and outlet hose clamps and then remove the Coolant Reservoir's inlet and outlet hoses. Take off the protective cap from the upper stud of the Coolant Reservoir and remove the upper nut along with loosening the side nut as well. Step back the connection between the Coolant Level Sensor and remove the Coolant Reservoir. To install, lubricate the inside diameter hoses with clean coolant prior to installing the Coolant Reservoir. Secure the upper Coolant Reservoir nut and tighten all nuts to 8 n.m (71 lb in) and replace the protection cap on the upper stud. Reconnect the Coolant Level Sensor electrical connection, Coolant Reservoir outlet hose, and install tension on the outlet hose clamp. Lastly, attach the Coolant Reservoir inlet hose and tighten tension on the inlet hose clamp before filling the cooling system.
